A urinalysis is used as a screening or diagnostic tool.
It can help detect medical problems such as urinary tract infection, kidney stones, bladder or kidney disease, even diabetes.
A urinalysis is frequently performed as part of a wellness exam. It is also done if a person has symptoms such as:
- abdominal or back pain
- painful or frequent urination
- blood in the urine
